An excerpt from my novel, This One Day a Bunch of Stuff Happens to the Main Character but at the End Everything Totally Works Out Even Though It Doesn’t Look That Way During Most of the Story.

I’m still working on the title.

Chapter 1

Hollywood. If New York is the city that never sleeps, this is the city that stays up for days at a time, wired from the combination of Red Bull, espresso and cocaine. The clock says 3:13 AM, but the city is still very much awake. Lindsay Lohan walks out of a club, and stumbles toward her Mercedes.

No. Not this time,” she thinks, deciding for once not to get behind the wheel, partly due to the near-fatal mixture of alcohol and horse tranquilizers in her system, but mainly because no matter how many times she offered to sleep with him, that jackass bartender refused to give her keys back.

Despite the hour, much of the city is still at work. Contracts are re-re-negotiated. Screenplays are written. Movies are filmed. Somewhere, an intern is drunkenly groped by Mel Gibson.
